The creation of this climatology is endorsed by Ocean-Cryosphere Exchanges in ANtarctica: Impacts on Climate and the Earth System (OCEAN ICE) project (https://ocean-ice.eu/). Note

The climatology field is linearly extrapolated over region with sparse data (e.g., deep ocean >2000 m and regions underneath the ice cavity), therefore unreliable in these areas. To mask out these sparse data regions, one should use the 'mask' variable in .nc file - 'mask' records the number of observational data points used in each grid point at each vertical level in the climatology. This can be used to define a 3D mask to exclude region/depth where climatological value is obtained by using only one valid observation data or linear extrapolation only to obtain a more reliable climatology field.
