French PIRATA cruises: CHEMICAL ANALYSIS data
“Bottle” (during the CTD-O2 upcasts) and Surface data (discrete samples of salinity, oxygen, pigments, nutrients, pH and alkalinity) collected in the Gulf of Guinea during cruises carried out in the framework of the programs «Prediction and Research morred Array in the Tropical Atlantic» (PIRATA ; Bourlès et al., 2008).
Disciplines
Chemical oceanography
Keywords
Salinity, Oxygen, Nutrients, Pigments, pH, Alkalinity, Niskin, CTD-O2, Portasal, Winkler, Continuous Flow Analysis, HPLC, PIRATA
Location
17.5N, -10S, 13E, -25W
Devices
Samples were collected from Niskin bottles mounted on a rosette concerning "bottle" data, and from the ship sea water circuit concerning surface data.
Salinity, Oxygen, pH and Alkalinity were analysed on board with, respectively, Portasal Salinometers, Winkler method, Spectrophotometric method and Potentiometric two-end points. Nutrients and Pigments were analysed in the UAR191 laboratory with, respectively, Continuous Flow Automated Analyzers and HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).
